Social Documentary·2023·Somewhere in Cambridge

Strawberry fair

Held on Midsummer Common in the heart of Cambridge, Strawberry Fair is a modern echo of the ancient Stourbridge Common Fair. To the majority of attendees, the fair is a single Saturday in June—they show up, celebrate, and go home. But as a past committee member, I know that the narrative begins in early Autumn. My goal with this project was to document the week of labor required to transform the common and the pristine restoration that follows. This is a celebration of ‘Town’ rather than ‘Gown’—a look at the community that builds a city landmark from the ground up.
